Versatile Cuban American guitarist Alberto Puerto is known for his potent and sensitive interpretations of diverse repertoire. His artistic inquiry promotes improvisation and a lustrous freestyle, replete with musical colors and delightful, invigorating ambiances, always sustained by an enthralling interpretive technique, at once making his way in the fusion of classical music with Latin jazz, instrumental music, and Latin American music. The reaches of Puerto's music, both sonically and conceptually, transcend the musical world to connect sound with other arts, thus ennobling the stage experience. His trajectory reveals a contrasting yet complementary repertoire, manifested in a variety of styles from Baroque music to popular Cuban music using elements of jazz, both as a soloist and with various music projects. Cuban guitarist and educator Alberto Puerto, whose work has shown a great deal of variety in the field of classical guitar, has acquired experience in all levels of musical instruction. With his contrasting repertoire, he has performed from baroque music to popular Cuban music using jazz elements, both as a soloist and with various chamber music projects. He has promoted the fusion of the guitar with other artistic manifestations in a cohesive and elaborate way.
During his 5 years as a professor at the Evangelical University of Bolivia, he taught guitar, harmony and music theory, and motivated students to relate music to the arts in general, providing a platform that focused on developing creativity and emotion.
He was concertmaster of the Sonantas Habaneras guitar orchestra for five years. This project was led by maestro Jesus Ortega, his mentor at the University of the Arts (ISA) Cuba.
Awards from various national and international competitions include Concurso Internacional de Guitarra Cochabamba, Bolivia 2010 and 2012, Musicalia 2009.
Alberto currently resides in Miami and has performed in numerous arts festivals and events such as the Miami International Ballet Festival 2017 and 2018, Art Basel Miami 2017 - 2018, Miami Guitart Festival 2018, LnS Gallery Arcimboldo´s Ghosts, an exhibition by Arturo Rodriguez 2018 and Cernuda Arte Gallery Cuban Arts Exhibition 2019, among others.
Most recently, he released his first album The Great Cuban Suite, in which he showcases the diversity of Cuban musical genres through the classical guitar and at the same time interacts with renowned Cuban jazz percussionists in the recording. The album was nominated for the 2021 CubaDisco awards. Alberto Puerto music is available for private guitar lessons, and for classical concerts booking worldwide through this site.

Alberto Puerto has collaborated with important artists from the USA, Spain, Cuba, Czech Republic, Canada, and other countries. The artist has worked with such luminaries as Jiri Sommer, former violinist of the Valladolid Symphony and the Prague Opera, Czech Republic, Jose Luis de la Paz, flameco guitarist and composer, Spain-USA, Yetzabel Arias, Soprano, Miami, USA, Jodi Penner, Soprano, Canada-USA, Yaroldy Abreu, percussionist with Chucho Valdes, Cuba, Otto Santana, jazz percussionist and leader of Otto Jazz Trio, Miami, USA, Ruly Herrera, jazz percussionist and leader of The Real Project, Isanusi Rodriguez, Classical dancer, Cuban Ballet of Miami, USA, and Niurca Marquez, dancer and choreographer.
The artist has also been invited by the Miami Guitar Orchestra for the Concierto de Aranjuez as a soloist, and by the Florida Chamber Orchestra for the Concierto Andaluz at the Miami Dade County Auditorium.
